Hump Day Q

  • Jul. 23rd, 2008 at 11:50 AM
Sad Katie
As I witnessed Mr. Katie spending yet another hour outside, lovingly polishing his new car, I wondered if other people got so passionate about an inanimate object. And that leads me to ask you all the same thing: Do you love some non-living object with all the fervor and devotion that is normally given to a beastie or humanoid?

I'm materialistic! I bought a bike and though it's not the most practical (it's a one-speeder) to use in a hilly town, I love it because I picked it out and bought it with my own money.

And my laptop. I baby my laptop and love it. I also apologize to my books if I crease the spines by accident....

That’s easy it’s a tie between my computer, & my books (Katie’s especially)with my needlework (counted cross stitch) coming in a close third.

My guitar... I love playing it and just having in in my hands. Even just practicing mundane chords and stuff. It just makes me happy to be in that place with music. Having a medium like my guitar to be able to play music on really deepens that connection.

Only reading and writing. I would almost give up food for it. As far as objects, I'm not deeply attached to anything except my computer...at the forehead; not enough to name it, keep it sparkling clean, and coo over it. ^_^ It's lucky to get cleaned once a year. Six years old and never crashed. ^_^

I'd have to say my cellphone. I'm a texting junkie.

I've named my computer and my car... Big Shiny and Eduardo, respectively.

I like my things, but at the end of the day they're just things and if I had the money I could replace them. I never have the money, though. And besides, Eduardo is a good little car (06 civic 4 door), and Big Shiny (G5 tower) still cleans the clock of every other computer in the house/offices.

I couldn't bear to throw away Little Shiny (my ancient laptop that I haven't used in years), even though the screen has long since died and it's terribly out of date. It would be simple for someone else to fix, and I keep thinking I'll find someone willing to trade me for it so I can go buy a new laptop.

I'd say my flute takes the top of the list. The first time it got a dent (tiny though it is) I almost cried. I apologize when called for and shine it almost obsessively.

Inanimate objects
I must admit, I take care of my webkins online with avidity. I used to be more crazy about some of my collectables.

my prized posessions.
there are oh so many! all my books especially the ones that i have signed, my computer (Edward), my iPod (Paen ^_^), and my external hard drive (Beast Boy) If i ever almost drop Paen or Beast Boy i will see my life pass before me and lose a year off my life. And i have been known to tell people that if they break the spine of my books i will break theirs and if they ask for anything Katie Mac or Steph Meyer i say hell no.

I think my books are about as close as I come. The covers are mylared, and I dust the shelf more than anywhere else in my house. That's some dedication... or it's the latent OCD combined with becoming a librarian.

My computer, formerly Moya, but once she went to the Big Apple Store in the Sky, I got Turul. She has her own small table next to me in my bedroom and the only reason I don't carry her into work every day is because I don't want to damage her. I have trouble sleeping when she is not next to me.

I'd like to say I love my ipod, but no, it drives me bonkers on a regular basis. I love my books. <3

My husband is obsessed with his medieval sword collection...he polishes them, hugs them, coos over new ones, and proudly shows them off to his friends...it's quite pathetic.

As for me, I hug my books (specifically my dragon and dark one books)! And get very sad when people take them out of their cabinet, fold the corners, or put them in an area when someone could spill liquid on them (like my husband's car trunk, or the coffee table). I whimper and go out and purchase a replacement which then gets hugged.

My books and my stuffed elephant. I call him Billiam :] I also have a moose that I used when I was a lumberjack for Halloween and affectionately named him Melvin-Hershey HumphryBoggart :D
