I recently joined the guild (about a week ago) and thought I'd introduce myself a bit. My characters name is Scrabble, she's a shaman. She might be my class soul mate. Haha. I also have an 80 Warlock on Boulderfist, and random scatterings of characters on other servers.

As for the person behind the screen, I'm a senior in college, I'm going to be graduating this year with a drawing degree. (Which means school takes up a lot of my time so I might not be on very much.) I want to illustrate childrens's books when I grow up hehe. I'm a pretty friendly person, but very shy online, so don't be offended if I don't speak up much in guild chat. Don't hesitate to start a conversation with me though. :D

I recently got a new laptop. That laptop has Vista.

No matter what we try (my husband & I) it will not connect to vent.

First, it would say "looking for server" or something along those lines. After much research, we tried turning off the firewall and /angels singing, it changed to "Server is available. Press Connect."

Only now, it just freezes on "Synchronizing". I have to alt, ctrl, delete out of it or it just stays frozen on that. We have googled until we can google no more. Nothing we do connects it. We have since been able to get around the firewall and still get the press connect message.

Luckily, since we are running raids we have run bazillions of times, my GM & RL have allowed me to not have to be on vent to raid.

HOWEVER...I still really want to be able to get on vent. I play with a great group of people and love being able to talk to them.

Anyone have any ideas on what to do next?

I wasn't sure my inquiry actually went through. My internet decided to kind of NOT WORK most of the way through when my post was posting.

The problem's been diagnosed; my signal's deteriorated or some shit. It fits the symptoms, too. So the point is, it's not on my end; it's the provider's fault. Explains why everyone else I spoke to who uses the same provider was confused as hell when I was describing my problems AND why my other techie friends were stumped.

As it turns out, I DO actually have some internet access; as long as I don't try to connect during "peak hours," I'm fine. So basically, no raiding, no WoW in general. And, on top of all that, no using the internet for homework (and JOY, two of my instructors use email to contact the class with additional assignments, to be completed the next day... I'm going to kill my provider...)

On the upside, I have approximately 1 precious hour between when classes end and when "peak hours" hit to check email for homework and do whatever I can on WoW. It's laggy as hell, but it mostly works.

Today, I finally managed to get the "Little Game Hunter" achievement, that WAS going to be completed 6 days ago. The little deer is kinda neat. ^_^

It's only recently that I've started noticing cute clothing on some toons and collecting a few pieces of my own. My bank toon (my sorely-neglected DK) is needing a makeover, so I figure now is as good a time as any to start rummaging around for something pretty for my draenei girl to wear.

I know we've probably had posts on this before, but eh. What are your favorite pieces of vanity clothing? If you can, include screenshots and/or links to wowhead or thott! :)

Hello, wow ladies and gents! I come begging for help!

I am in the process of compiling a guide of healing resources, sites, blogs, etc for my raid's healers. I am searching for info on all healing classes and specs, but I am not sure where to start (I can't even remember where/how I found what I have found). I need help! As someone who plays a priest, most of what I read and visit are related to, well, priests (discipline specifically). So, I need info on holy priests, paladins, shamans, and druids.

I would love to know what sites you all use to research your class and get tips from on how to play. Thanks in advance!

My husband and a few other people saw a couple hordies on our server "targeting" nothing and using offensive spells like smite/SW:Death on "it". Then they'd bend down to "loot" something, but there would be no body. It'd be like they were randomly shooting nothing and looting nothing. We saw this go on for about 30 minutes in wintergrasp. Does anyone seen this before? It was really weird. Hacks?

I love retro raids. So when I saw people spamming trade for a Black Temple go, I was happy to join. There were only 9 other people, and most of them were level 70-73, but that's fine - as long as we get a few more 80's everything should go well.

Except the raid leader - level 70, btw - says we're full and that everyone should head there.

I point out it's a 25 man raid. Some other people point out it's a 25 man raid. He refuses to believe us, because the raid difficulty is set to 10.

Yes, we tried explaining. It didn't work.

They're taking pictures (accepting, not snapping them) of people holding either the horde or alliance symbol. Once they reach the goal number of photos they'll turn it into a mosaic!

For months I have known that the only normal daily quest that I haven't done is Oculus. I saved the quest but I wasn't in a hurry to complete it - I knew I'd get to Oculus some day for some reason. Then, about a month ago, I realized that "some day" had better be very soon, because when 3.3 comes out, the daily and heroic daily quests will cease to exist. YIKES! So, this week I got a couple of guildies to help me clear out regular Oculus just to the constructs and I finished the quest, got my achievement. And that's when I realized...

...that I'm missing the Proof of Demise achievement, too! AAUUGH!!! I thought I had it! Turns out I'm missing the Gundrak heroic daily and I don't know the last time I saw that quest. I'm now checking every day, praying that the Gundrak heroic daily comes up before 3.3 comes out. Please cross your fingers for me?

On a side note... are there any other achievements that will ceased to be attainable after 3.3 comes out? Should I be panicing about anything else?

Edit: I'm sorry to have caused such a panic! No, the red proto-drake is not going away AFAIK. The only achievements being "removed" are the Timear Forsees and Proof of Demise achievements, which are becoming feats of strength. This is because the daily dungeon quests themselves are going away, so you won't be able to complete the achievements if they aren't offering the quests. That's what I was referring to here. Thanks to liret for the source linky.

I remember a post recently in which a fellow European lady was thinking of ordering some shirts from Jinx. One of the things putting her off was the prospect of getting ripped off with custom fees and shipping. A reply advised her that Jinx had just launched a European store.

Think this was it

Having recently ordered from the "European" store, I thought it worth advising the nice peeps here that you will still be hit with customs as the items ship from the US. Jinx will refuse to reimburse you, even if there is no warning the item ships from the US rather than the EU. Furthermore, it will actually work out cheaper for you to order from their US store because of the exchange rate.

So please don't be ripped off! If anyone else has been hit with this as they were under the impression the items would be coming from Europe as advertised, I encourage you to email Jinx support to let them know how this could be misleading.

So I decided to do massive amounts of PvP on my 75 lock to avoid the emblem grind at 80 and maybe have some decent (albeit high in resil) purples to complement what I can make with her tailoring for level 80. Seems even sillier when spelled out that way, really it's just exchanging one grind for another... but what else ya gonna do in WoW?

I finally got her to 76 at like 2 AM after many mind-numbing WSG matches. Our battlegroup's 70s dominate AV, but wins are pretty 50/50 everywhere else. Now I don't know exactly how long it took to go through that level, I really should have paid attention to that, but it didn't *seem* like any longer than leveling through quests.

Has anyone else done this?

Hey guys, I started walking out the door for school this morning to find I had a keylogger on my computer that I only play WoW on/ view WoW websites so it is probably one trying to steal my account. I have an authenticator so I think I should be ok but you might want to demote me anyway just to be sure. I didn't have time to check if I could log in this morning and my school has WoW blocked so I can't attempt it on my laptop. When I get home tonight I am going to have to make sure it is fixed before I log in on my WoW computer also, so if I don't make it to the raid on time it is either because a) I can't log into my account or b) I couldn't get the virus off in time. I could play on my laptop but it would be kinda lol because it tends to overheat since I don't have the cooling pad (Christmas is coming up!) so playing on my laptop is at the discretion of the raid leaders. :))

For the 10th edition the Gatehouse Gazette is still looking for steampunk or dieselpunk photos for it's usual photo competition.
The best image will be published in the magazine, which will be released at the end of December/beginning of January (depending on how heavily the holidays take their toll on our poor chief editor).

To all the people that tried to help me with my raiding issues earlier. The issue kind of resolved itself. The guild master kicked out my husband and I. So now we are looking for a new guild, hopefully one that raids together.

So if anyone on Bloodhoof knows of a great casual raiding guild, please let me know. Especially if you'd like not just two people, but four, as our friends would like to join with us, even if they too haven't been kicked out.

ETA: I am on the US server bloodhoof and an ally.

In addition to getting utterly rejected 4 days after my birthday and this being, in all other ways, utterly the WORST time of year, life has decided to fuck me over in yet another way by making it so that I'm not only unable to RAID, I'm also unable to even LOG INTO WARCRAFT.

At first, I was just disconnecting during boss fights. No biggie, I'd tell them to let me die, I'd log back in, I'd watch them take the boss down. Then I wouldn't be able to log back on at all while the boss was alive.

We thought it was the router. It was a piece of shit anyway and always had a tendency to lock my computer out, moreso if there's more than one machine on the network (as of October, there was). I got sick of resetting it and just bought a new one that was from a more reliable brand.

Set it up. Worked fine for... a day. Then I couldn't log on IM programs or use browsers, much less log on WoW. Techie friend suggested "oh, it's probably an issue with ports."

Tried that. Got the network up and running (though I'm not sure if it was because I was plugging in ports for programs or because my father used HIS laptop to connect to the internet through the router; either way, everything worked fine after that).

Logged into WoW. Did my JC daily. Was about to head off to run another few dailies when...disconnected. In the middle of Dalaran. No way to log back on. Ports didn't seem to fix it.

I'm out of ideas. My father is out of ideas. My techie friend who suggested messing with ports has concluded that my router is a piece of crap. Moving the modem up here (from the basement) and plugging directly into that isn't possible; I have no cable connectivity in my room.

If anyone here has any ideas, please, please PLEASE tell me. Otherwise, I'm left to asking my techie friend who gave me a lovely "return to sender" notice 4 days after my birthday.
